Torlon® Machining

Machining Torlon® requires the proper tooling and inserts.  Torlon® often requires carbide or diamond tooling for production runs.  Torlon® has the ability to hold extremely tight tolerances and perform at high levels in extreme heat as well as cold environments.  In order, to get the best finish and most precise tolerances out of a machined Torlon®  part, it requires the use of proper tooling, coolant as well as speeds and feeds.  BPM machinists have the utmost experience and knowledge in the industry when it comes to Torlon®.  To hold critical tolerances, it may require annealing the material to stress relieve it prior to the machining process.

Chemical & Wear Resistance Torlon® Parts!

Torlon® is has one of the highest strengths and stiffness of any commercial thermoplastic on the market.  It also can maintain these characteristics at extremely high and low temperatures.  

Torlon® 4203 Electrical Grade is the unfilled or natural grade of Torlon®.  It is often used for the electronic industry for seals, sockets, washers, spacers and more.  It is used in high-temperature environments.

Torlon® 5030 30% Glass Fiber reinforced PAI
This version of Torlon® is for extreme heat applications used in the aerospace industry.  It can often be found in jet engine requirements.
