G10/FR4 Machining


G10 and FR4 are high-pressure industrial laminates made from glass fabric impregnated with epoxy resin. The differences between NEMA Grades G10 and FR4 is that FR4 is a fire-retardant grade of G10. FR4 can be safely substituted where G10 is specified unless the component is going into a nuclear reactor. However, G10 can never be substituted when FR4 is spec’d in a drawing. G10 and FR4 are two separate materials. Both grades of material have great mechanical strength, low water absorption and perform extremely well in electrical applications. Both G10/FR4 perform well in a variety of temperature ranges while still maintaining their mechanical strength and dimensional stability. G10/FR4 is the common choice of material for PCBs, electrical seals, fixtures, enclosures, terminal boards and more. G10/FR4 can often be found in Electrical, Oil/Gas, Underwater, Aerospace and various other industries.

Everyday one of our machines will be running a precision component out of G10/FR4. From terminal boards on one of our CNC Mills to a complex G10/FR4 bobbin on our live tooled Haas 35 STY, we are machining NEMA every day.  We understand how to attack the complex nature of the material as well as the hazards that it creates in machining it. With our Cryogenic Deburring machine, all of our G10/FR4 components will be clean and burr-free upon delivery.
